School and University Cleaning in the Coachella Valley
Custodial programs for Palm Desert's college campuses and K-12 schools from Palm Springs to Coachella, built for desert heat and dust.
The short answer
EBS Maintenance provides school and university cleaning in the Coachella Valley for college and university campuses in Palm Desert and for K-12 and private schools from Palm Springs and Cathedral City to Indio, La Quinta and Coachella. Crews clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, cafeterias and gyms after hours, and summer deep cleaning is planned around Cal/OSHA's heat rules. Teams travel from EBS's Corona office along I-10, with supervisors inspecting each campus on a routine schedule.
Palm Desert's higher-education cluster
Palm Desert is the valley's education center as well as its main retail hub. College of the Desert has its main campus there, the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus sits on Cook Street, and UCR Palm Desert adds a University of California presence. All three are within one city, which makes them practical to cover with a single crew and supervisor.
K-12 and private schools are spread across the whole valley, from Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs and Cathedral City in the west to Indio, Coachella, Thermal and Mecca in the east. Each campus gets a scope written for its own buildings, layout and bell schedule rather than a template.
School and university cleaning in the Coachella Valley through the heat
Summer break is when campuses get their heaviest cleaning, and in the desert it is also the hottest time of year. Crews follow two Cal/OSHA standards: Title 8 section 3395 for outdoor work and Title 8 section 3396 for indoor spaces once temperatures reach 82 degrees. In practice that means:
- Outdoor jobs such as pressure washing walkways and lunch areas start at first light and finish before midday
- Indoor floor work is scheduled with the facilities team so air conditioning or ventilation runs in the rooms being refinished
- Water, shade and rest breaks are built into every shift, with closer watch on new crew members
- Floor finish goes down only within the temperature range on its label, so it cures evenly
- Supervisors adjust start times during heat waves instead of pushing through the hottest hours

Dust, glass and outdoor spaces
Many desert campuses move students outdoors between classes, through covered walkways, quads and lunch shelters. Dust and grit from those spaces come inside on every shoe, settle on vents and window ledges and wear down floor finish. Scopes here add more frequent entry mat cleaning, dust mopping before wet cleaning, and regular vent and high-surface dusting.
Classroom and office windows facing the sun collect dust and water spots, so interior and exterior glass is scheduled more often than at a typical campus. Gym floors get daily dust mopping with treated mops, because fine grit is what scratches a sports finish.
Through the school year
During the school year, the main clean happens after dismissal and after evening classes at the college campuses. Day porters can cover lunch periods and restroom checks at larger schools. Winter break suits carpet extraction and machine scrubbing, and summer handles stripping and refinishing, deep restroom cleaning and preparing rooms before staff return. Every campus follows its own clearance rules for contractor staff, and EBS team members are background-checked, trained and uniformed.
Serving the desert from Corona
EBS has a single office, in Corona, and its crews and supervisors cover the Western, Central and Eastern Coachella Valley from there. Supervisors log each inspection and corrective action in eHub, backup staff cover absences, and 24/7 priority support takes urgent calls. The main education cleaning page explains the full scope and APPA cleaning levels; the Coachella Valley janitorial page covers other building types.

Questions we hear
Still not sure? A supervisor can answer at the walkthrough.
Request a walkthroughAll questionsDo you serve schools across the whole Coachella Valley?
Yes. EBS covers Palm Springs, Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City and Rancho Mirage in the west, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Bermuda Dunes and Thousand Palms in the center, and Indio, La Quinta, Coachella, Thermal and Mecca in the east, all from its Corona office.
Can summer deep cleaning be done safely in desert heat?
Yes, with planning. Heavy indoor work is scheduled where cooling or ventilation is running, outdoor work moves to early morning, and crews take the water, shade and rest breaks required by Title 8 sections 3395 and 3396. Supervisors shift start times when a heat wave arrives.
Do you clean branch and satellite college campuses?
Yes. Smaller college campuses are a good fit for a defined program covering classrooms, offices, labs, restrooms and common areas. Scopes are written for the buildings and class hours of that campus rather than copied from a larger main campus elsewhere.
What should a school prepare before the walkthrough?
A building list or site map, the school calendar, the cleaning standard you expect for each type of room, key and alarm procedures, and any clearance rules for contractor staff. The supervisor uses these to build the scope, schedule and quote.
