LA County research labs
Laboratory Cleaning in Los Angeles County
Cleaning for academic, hospital-affiliated, biotech and aerospace labs, with each room's access limits and hazards written into the procedure.
The short answer
EBS Maintenance provides laboratory cleaning in Los Angeles County for university and hospital-affiliated research labs, biotech and medical device labs, and aerospace and hard-tech test spaces. Each program starts from the site's safety rules: which rooms the crew may enter, what PPE is needed, which chemicals are allowed and what must never be touched. Crews are trained, background-checked and assigned for consistency, and every visit is logged for the lab manager.
Research corridors across the county
On the Westside, UCLA and Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center anchor Westwood, and UCLA is turning the former Westside Pavilion in West Los Angeles into the UCLA Research Park. Along the I-210 and the Metro A Line, Pasadena is home to Caltech and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory it manages, plus lab and bioscience space; Monrovia has a Technology Corridor of technology and research companies with medical device makers among its top employers; and Duarte holds City of Hope's main campus, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.
Hard-tech labs follow a different pattern. El Segundo combines aerospace and defense campuses with the Smoky Hollow hard-tech district, Hawthorne is home to SpaceX's main factory, and the Chatsworth-Northridge Industrial Core in the San Fernando Valley grew from aerospace roots. Teaching and research labs also sit on campuses such as Cal Poly Pomona, Western University of Health Sciences and CSUN.
Laboratory cleaning in Los Angeles County, by type of lab
The building type tells us a lot about the restrictions before the walkthrough starts. This is how the program usually adjusts:
| Lab setting | Common restrictions | How the crew works |
|---|---|---|
| Hospital-affiliated research | Human samples and blood; strict entry rules | Bloodborne pathogen procedures under Cal/OSHA Title 8 section 5193; specimen waste left to the lab |
| University teaching and research labs | Shared rooms used by many groups; chemical storage | Cleaning within the chemical hygiene plan required by Title 8 section 5191 |
| Biotech and medical device labs | Controlled rooms, gowning, quality records | Dedicated tools per zone, low-lint materials and a log for every visit |
| Aerospace and hard-tech test labs | Export-control limits on who may enter certain areas | Escorts or pre-cleared staff, as the site's security office decides |
| Posted hazard rooms | Radioactive material, lasers or high-voltage equipment | Entered only when the site's safety officer allows, and only for the tasks listed |

Getting the sequence right
Cross-contamination in a lab usually comes from the cleaning process itself: the same mop used in a corridor and then a clean room, or a cloth carried from a restroom to a bench. Programs here run in a fixed order, from the cleanest spaces toward the dirtiest, with color-coded cloths and mops that stay in their zone. Waste from general areas is collected last, and lab waste streams the site manages itself (biohazard, sharps, chemical) are left for its own handlers.
Where a lab needs it, EPA-registered disinfectants or the lab's own approved agents are used on touchpoints, sinks and floors. Some research groups prefer that nothing new enters the room, and in those cases the crew uses only what the lab supplies.
Coverage across a large county
Teams travel from our Corona office to sites from the Westside to the San Gabriel Valley. Each account has a field supervisor who inspects on a set schedule and records results in eHub, with corrective actions tracked to completion. Backup staff are trained on the lab's procedures in advance, because a substitute who has never seen the gowning room is not a real backup. With more than 100 employees, EBS can staff a single lab suite or a campus with several buildings.

Questions we hear
Still not sure? A supervisor can answer at the walkthrough.
Request a walkthroughAll questionsCan you clean labs that handle human blood or tissue?
Yes, within the lab's exposure control plan. Crews wear the PPE the lab requires, follow Cal/OSHA's bloodborne pathogen procedures and never handle specimens or regulated waste, which stay with the lab's own program.
How do you handle labs with export-control or security restrictions?
The site's security office decides who may enter controlled areas, and the program follows that decision with escorts or pre-cleared staff. EBS has experience in high-security, access-controlled environments and keeps the assigned roster stable.
Do lab cleaning services in Los Angeles County include office space too?
Usually, yes. Most research buildings include offices, conference rooms, restrooms and break areas, and those are covered by a standard janitorial program on the same contract, with separate procedures for the lab zones.
What records do you provide?
Cleaning logs for each lab visit and service reports, plus eHub inspection records showing what supervisors checked and any corrective action taken. The format can be matched to what your quality or safety team files.
Do you offer laboratory cleaning services in Los Angeles County at night?
Yes. Evening and overnight cleaning is common for research labs, and early-morning or weekend windows are available where experiments run late or the lab works shifts.
