San Bernardino day porters
Day Porter Services in San Bernardino, CA
A uniformed porter on site through the working day, keeping San Bernardino lobbies, restrooms and common areas in order while the building is full.
The short answer
EBS Maintenance provides day porter services in San Bernardino, CA to buildings that need cleaning while people are in them: public-facing offices near the government center, medical office waiting areas, campus-area buildings, retail common areas and busy logistics breakrooms. The porter walks set rounds, restocks restrooms, empties bins, wipes touchpoints, deals with spills as they happen and reports problems, then hands over to the evening janitorial crew.
Where a porter earns its place in San Bernardino
Buildings around the downtown government center take in members of the public all day, and a single lobby restroom can go from clean to unusable before lunch. A porter keeps those public areas presentable between the morning opening and the evening clean, which matters most in buildings where visitors form their opinion of an organization at the front counter.
Waiting rooms in medical office buildings near the St. Bernardine and Community Hospital campuses are another fit: chairs, counters, pens and door handles see a steady stream of hands. In the University District, buildings close to the campus see restroom peaks between sessions, and retail and food areas, including those around downtown's ballpark and theatre, pick up litter and spills through the day. In logistics buildings, a porter can keep shared breakrooms usable as one shift gives way to the next.
Day porter services in San Bernardino: the round sheet
Each porter works from a written round sheet built during the walkthrough. It lists the stops, the order and the checks at each one, and it is adjusted after the first few weeks once real traffic patterns show up.
- Restrooms: check, wipe, restock paper and soap, clear floors and report any fixture problem
- Lobbies and entries: sweep or dust-mop entry floors, straighten mats, clean fingerprints from glass doors
- Touchpoints: elevator buttons, door pulls, handrails, check-in counters and shared kiosks wiped with EPA-approved disinfectant
- Trash: empty bins in lobbies, breakrooms and food areas before they overflow
- Spills: mark the area, clean it up, and leave the floor dry and safe
- Conference and shared rooms: reset after meetings when requested
- Exterior: walk entrances, patios and smoking areas for litter
- End of shift: note supply needs and maintenance issues for the facility contact and the night crew

Planning coverage around your building's day
The right coverage depends on when the building is busiest, how many restrooms and floors there are, and whether the public comes in. Most buildings start with a single porter and adjust after a month of round sheets and supervisor notes.
| Building type | Usual porter hours | Main focus |
|---|---|---|
| Public-facing office near the civic center | Business hours, weekdays | Lobby, public restrooms, counters and elevators |
| Medical office building | Clinic hours | Waiting rooms, patient restrooms, entry and touchpoints |
| Campus-area building | Class and office hours | Restrooms between sessions, common areas, trash |
| Retail or food area | Opening to close, heavier on weekends | Spills, litter, restrooms, seating areas |
| Logistics site | Across shift changes | Breakrooms, locker areas, restrooms |
Heat, wind and the outdoor part of the job
Some of a porter's rounds are outside: entry walks, patios, bus-stop edges of a property and trash enclosures. During hot, dry inland summers those outdoor rounds are moved to the cooler hours, and Cal/OSHA's outdoor heat rule, Title 8 section 3395, shapes how EBS plans water, shade and rest for porters who spend time outdoors. When Santa Ana winds blow dust across the city, the porter adds extra passes on entry floors and glass doors so the grit stays out of the lobby.
Uniforms, discretion and supervision
Porters work in full view of your staff, visitors and patients, so manner matters as much as method. EBS porters wear company uniforms and identification, keep conversations short and professional, stay out of private meetings and leave paperwork and screens alone. Each has passed a background check and has been trained on the round sheet before starting.
A field supervisor visits the post regularly and records each check in eHub. When the regular porter is out, a backup porter takes the post using the same round sheet. San Bernardino porters are scheduled from EBS's Corona office; call (949) 375-3305 to arrange a walkthrough and a no-cost estimate.

Questions we hear
Still not sure? A supervisor can answer at the walkthrough.
Request a walkthroughAll questionsWhat does a day porter do that our night crew does not?
A porter keeps the building in order while it is in use. The night crew does the full clean of an empty building; the porter handles what happens between those cleans, such as restroom restocks, spills, overflowing bins and smudged glass, and passes notes to the night crew so issues are followed up.
Can a porter work in a medical office waiting room?
Yes. Porters can keep waiting rooms, check-in counters, patient restrooms and entries clean and disinfected during clinic hours. Exam and procedure rooms remain with the scheduled medical cleaning program, and porters do not handle patient records or regulated waste.
How many porters will our San Bernardino building need?
Usually one to start. The number depends on floor count, restroom count, public traffic and hours of operation. EBS reviews round sheets and supervisor notes after the first few weeks and recommends more coverage only if the rounds cannot keep pace.
Can porter hours change for busy days or events?
Yes. Hours can be extended for public meetings, heavy appointment days, sales or events near your property, then returned to normal. Ask for the change in advance so a porter who already knows the building can be scheduled.
