Point Loma's commercial life is tied to the bay: Shelter Island hotels, restaurants and marinas under the Port of San Diego, and the sportfishing fleet, boat yards and marine businesses around Roseville and Point Loma Village. Liberty Station, the redeveloped former Naval Training Center, adds office, retail, educational and cultural space, while Naval Base Point Loma, Point Loma Nazarene University and Cabrillo National Monument occupy much of the peninsula. The commercial and industrial Midway District sits at its north end beside I-5 and I-8, near San Diego International Airport.
