Escondido is a major inland North County city on the I-15 corridor, with Palomar Medical Center as its largest employer, a downtown along Grand Avenue and the Westfield North County regional mall. Manufacturing is a meaningful share of resident employment, and the California Center for the Arts adds a theater and conference venue. The Escondido Transit Center is the eastern end of the Sprinter rail line to Oceanside.
