Medical and clinical cleaning

Healthcare Facility Cleaning Services

Cleaning for medical offices, clinics, outpatient centers and specialty practices, built on infection-prevention basics and scheduled around patient hours.

The short answer

EBS Maintenance provides healthcare facility cleaning services for medical offices, clinics, outpatient centers and specialty care practices across Southern California. Crews disinfect high-touch surfaces and restrooms with EPA-registered products left wet for the full label contact time, clean from clean areas toward dirty ones, and follow HIPAA-conscious habits around patient information. Work is scheduled around patient hours, and supervisors inspect and document every site.

What healthcare facility cleaning services include

The scope below comes from the EBS healthcare program. Each item is written into the site's procedure with its frequency, products and the order in which rooms are cleaned.

  • Lobbies, exam rooms and common areas cleaned daily, starting with the cleanest rooms and finishing with restrooms and soiled utility areas
  • High-touch surfaces and non-critical equipment such as exam tables, chair arms, counters, light switches and door handles disinfected at label contact time
  • Restrooms sanitized and restocked, with partitions, fixtures and dispensers included every visit
  • Exteriors of medical waste containers wiped in non-hazardous areas, while the containers' contents stay with the facility's licensed hauler
  • Waiting room seating, armrests and check-in counters wiped down, since every patient touches them
  • Floors mopped, scrubbed and disinfected, with periodic machine scrubbing and finish work on hard floors
  • Breakrooms and staff areas cleaned so staff spaces do not become a weak point
  • HIPAA-conscious protocols: papers, charts and screens left exactly as found, and confidential bins left for the shredding vendor

Clinical and non-clinical areas are cleaned differently

Infection control in a medical building divides surfaces by risk. Instruments that enter the body or touch mucous membranes are reprocessed by clinical staff, never by a cleaning crew. The crew's responsibility is the environment: floors, walls at hand height, counters, exam tables, restrooms and the many touchpoints patients and staff share. Those surfaces still matter, because they are how organisms travel from one patient to the next.

Procedures set the order of work (clean to dirty, high to low), assign color-coded cloths so a restroom cloth never reaches an exam room, and change mop heads between zones. Exam rooms that staff wipe between patients during the day get a full clean at night, and spaces such as procedure rooms or labs follow the practice's own rules on what the crew may touch.

Rules that apply in medical buildings

Cal/OSHA's bloodborne pathogens standard, Title 8 section 5193, covers workers who may contact blood or other potentially infectious materials, which includes cleaning a contaminated restroom or exam room. Crews work with bloodborne-pathogen awareness, use gloves and the facility's spill procedures, and do not handle sharps.

Regulated medical waste falls under California's Medical Waste Management Act, so red-bag waste and sharps containers are managed by the facility and its registered hauler. Disinfectants are EPA-registered, mixed and applied as the label directs; a product wiped dry before its contact time has not disinfected the surface. Around patient information, team members do not read, move or discard documents, which keeps the practice's HIPAA obligations intact.

Schedules built around patient hours

Most medical offices are cleaned in the evening after the last patient leaves, so exam rooms can be cleaned fully without interruption. Practices with long hours, urgent care or busy waiting rooms add a day porter to check restrooms, restock supplies, wipe touchpoints and handle spills while patients are present. Weekends suit carpet extraction and hard-floor refinishing.

Medical buildings cannot skip a night, so backup staff, field supervisors and an escalation path are part of every program, and 24/7 priority support handles urgent problems such as a restroom flood before morning appointments. Beach Cities Health District is among the clients whose logos appear on our site, and its comment on EBS reads: "I am pleased with the professionalism and quick response to needs."

Medical facility cleaning services in six regions

Teams travel from our Corona office to healthcare buildings across Southern California. Orange County's demand clusters around hospital campuses in Newport Beach, Orange, Irvine and Mission Viejo. In Los Angeles County, medical offices concentrate in Beverly Hills, Westwood, Santa Monica, Torrance, Pasadena, Glendale and along Ventura Boulevard. Riverside County's corridors run through Riverside, Moreno Valley, Murrieta and Temecula, and San Bernardino County's center on Loma Linda, Fontana, Upland and Colton. San Diego County spans Kearny Mesa, La Jolla, University City and East County, and the Coachella Valley's anchors are in Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs and Indio.

Request a walkthroughAll questions
Do your janitors handle medical waste or sharps containers?

No. Regulated medical waste and sharps containers are managed by the facility and its registered hauler under California's Medical Waste Management Act. Crews wipe container exteriors in non-hazardous areas and remove ordinary trash and recycling.

How is outpatient center cleaning different from cleaning an office?

Outpatient center cleaning follows a set order from clean to dirty areas, uses EPA-registered disinfectants at full contact time on patient-touch surfaces, separates cloths by zone, and keeps away from instruments, specimens and patient records. An office program has none of those constraints.

Can you clean while our clinic is open?

Yes, for the areas that need it. A day porter can cover waiting rooms, restrooms and touchpoints during patient hours, while exam rooms and floors get their full clean after closing.

Do you provide clinic cleaning services for small practices?

Yes. Clinic cleaning services are scoped to the space, so a single-suite practice and a multi-floor medical office building each get a program built from their own walkthrough.

Are your crews background-checked for medical buildings?

Yes. Each person assigned to a medical site has passed a background check, has been trained and vetted before starting, and works in an EBS uniform. EBS itself is licensed and insured.
